Climate Change

Overall-Collage---Insta.jpg

For Episode 9 of the Royal Society of Medicine’s Health Emergency of Climate Change series, I was commissioned to put together a live drawing to illustrate the discussion as part of an online webinar. Fortunately the episode was pre-recorded so I was able to watch the discussion before creating the video of the drawing afterwards at my leisure. This was a new way of working for me, not only did I have to illustrate what the speakers were saying, but I also had to make the process interesting to watch and make sure the right bits were drawn at the right times. And, if that wasn’t challenging enough, I decided to record this as a digital drawing on Wacom Cintiq Pro, something which I still haven’t quite got to grips with (its a bit clunky in places, but I know what I would do differently next time.

This episode gathered thought-leadership perspectives from around the world on planetary health, and how our impact on nature can influence the rise of pandemics. Leading authorities discussed the relationship between planetary health and pandemics, strategies for minimising future threats, and what healthcare professionals can do to make a difference.

The full video can be seen below, my drawing starts at 0:01:46 (although I designed the opening sequence and event branding under one of my other hats, so thats worth a watch as well).
